Organized by the Institut du Numérique Responsable and the World Cleanup Day association, Digital Cleanup Day is a global day toraise awareness of the environmental footprint of digital technology.

The aim is to encourage global awareness of the environmental impact of digital technology, by rolling out initiatives to raise awareness of responsible digital practices.

This year, SIRFULL is joining the collective effort for the 1st time by organizing a digital data cleanse over 5 days, from Monday March 11 to Friday March 15, 2024.

SIRFULL - Digital Cleanup Day

Why is digital cleaning important?

While digital technology is a source of great progress, its acceleration is worrying for the environment. Data is ubiquitous in our daily lives and business activities, and massive volumes of data are stored.

The digital sector is responsible for 4% of global greenhouse gas emissions. It is estimated that by 2025 it could even account for 8% of emissions. Negative impacts are to be considered at every stage in the life cycle of digital equipment (from manufacture, through use, to end-of-life).

So it’s crucial that we take steps to keep our digital spaces clean and efficient. It is in this spirit that we are taking part in this responsible event.

What concrete actions do we want to put in place?

During our Digital Cleanup Week, several actions will be implemented to clean up our digital environments and raise awareness of best practices among our teams:

  • Cleansing of files stored on our collaborative platform will be implemented to identify obsolete files, unnecessary duplicates and outdated information, ensuring that only relevant data is retained.
  • We’ll be taking care to unclog our mailboxes by deleting non-essential messages and large attachments, and systematically archiving important information.
  • Our employees will be made aware of the importance of good data management practices: regular sorting of files, compliance with security and confidentiality policies, and responsible use of the digital tools made available to them.

By combining these actions, we are committed to maintaining an organized and secure digital environment.

Together, we can make a significant difference in managing our digital data and creating a more sustainable digital future. What are you doing to reduce your digital footprint?
