Every year, the Digital Cleanup Day initiative raises awareness of the environmental impact of digital technology, and encourages companies, local authorities and individuals to take action to reduce this footprint. SIRFULL is taking part in this initiative by organizing its own Digital Cleanup Week from March 10 to 15, a week dedicated to cleaning up and optimizing digital data.

By organizing a Digital Cleanup Week, we can reduce our digital footprint while improving the management of our resources. Small gestures have a big impact! By making companies and individuals aware of the importance of regularly cleaning up their data, this initiative contributes to a more sustainable and efficient digital environment.

Digital Cleanup Day 2025

Reducing our digital footprint at SIRFULL

Every online action consumes energy and has an impact on the environment. At SIRFULL, as a software publisher, we are aware of our environmental impact and are taking concrete action to reduce it.

Here are the concrete actions we are deploying to make digital technology more responsible:

  1. Cleaning up our mail

We educate our teams about responsible email management: deleting unnecessary messages, unsubscribing from non-essential newsletters and limiting multiple mailings. Emails are at the heart of our daily communication, but their environmental impact is often underestimated. Each email sent generates around 10 grams of CO₂. By adopting these good practices, we help to limit this impact.

  1. Sort files and optimize storage

At SIRFULL, we encourage rigorous file management: deleting duplicates, archiving locally where possible, and rationalizing storage on the cloud. By reducing the load on our servers, we limit our carbon footprint. Data centers, which host our data, consume a lot of energy. An average data center can consume as much electricity as a small town of 30,000 inhabitants.

  1. Better manage our IT equipment

The manufacture of a computer requires the extraction of 800 kg of raw materials and around 1,500 liters of water. It is therefore essential to encourage the re-use and repair of our equipment to extend its life and reduce the environmental impact of its manufacture. In addition, we recycle our obsolete equipment to limit the production of electronic waste.

The results are in!

  • 183,685 emails deleted from our 29 inboxes,
  • 721 GB of data erased from our cloud.

A huge thank you to the entire team for their dedication!

These initiatives are part of a global drive towards a more sustainable digital environment. By adopting these best practices and taking part in Digital Cleanup Day, we can work together for a more responsible and sustainable digital future.
